The Friends of British Art include collectors
scholars and other patrons who share a deep interest in British
art from the sixteenth century to the present day. Their aim is
to provide vital support for the Yale Center for British Art, principally
in the area of acquisitions.
Friends of British Art are joined by their firm commitment to the
Center and its activities. They enjoy direct access to the Centers
collections and those who care for them. They attend special workshops
and seminars in which curators and guest speakers share their expertise.
They are invited to participate in study tours and visits to other
museums and private collections in this country and abroad. They
receive invitations to special events that are exclusive to the
Friends, together with complimentary copies of catalogues published
in conjunction with the Center's exhibitions. The Calendar of
Events mailed triannually, gives them details of all
the Center's activities, and they qualify for special discounts
on all purchases from the Museum Shop. Friends are automatically
enrolled to receive the benefits of individual/dual membership
in both of Yale's art museums.
Friends of British Art undertake to support
the Center by making a contribution of $1,100; $2,500; or $5,000
annually. Friends contributions are tax deductible less $280 per
individual or $400 per couple to the extent allowed by law. As part
of Yale University, the Center for British Art is eligible for corporate
matching funds designated for higher education. Contributions benefit
the collections and programs of the Yale Center for British Art.
