Through its teacher and school programs, the Yale
Center for British Art strives to enrich teachers' and students' understanding
of works of art. These programs provide opportunities to engage actively
with works of art, stimulate inquiry and discussion, and foster critical
looking and thinking skills.
Classes may choose guided thematic tours of paintings and sculpture
in the permanent collection and special exhibitions, work with education
staff to design tours to meet specific needs, or visit the museum
on their own. In addition, tours for small groups can take place in
the collections of prints, drawings, and rare books.
Consider scheduling a series of class visits. Multiple visits offer
students an opportunity to build upon past looking experiences and
to explore topics in greater depth.
